Being an anime enthusiast, I also consider myself as a huge Cosplay fan. Well, don't know what this thing called "Cosplay" is? According to Wikipedia-kun, Cosplay is short for "costume play", is a type of performance art in which participants sports their favorite costumes and accessories to represent a specific character or idea. Characters are often drawn from popular fiction in Japan. Favorite sources include manga, anime, tokusatsu, comic books, graphic novels, video games, hentai and fantasy movies. Cosplayers typically come from the ranks of otaku--that is, fans of Japanese comic books, known as manga. They gather at public events such as comic-book and video game trade shows, as well as at dedicated cosplay parties or conventions. The object of cosplay is interpretation: one attempts to become one's character much as a stage actor inhabits a role. Costumes are expected to adhere meticulously to the attire known to be worn by the character represented. Even more generic costumes get an elaborately artistic treatment. Cosplayers may purchase or create costumes through fan labor.

One of my favorite Cosplayer (and is a big crush of mine *winks*) is none other than the lovely Miss Alodia Gosiengfiao. This 22 year old, half Filipino, half Chinese Cosplay maiden resides somewhere in Quezon City. Her passion lies in the art, fashion, anime, video games and cosplaying. She is a huge Final Fantasy game fan (like meh ^^). Her popularity began in 2003 when she won in an event called the C3 Convention in 2003 as Gun Mage Rikku of FFX-2. She was Animax's first ever Levi's Kawaii girl winner in the last episode of Mad Mad Fun, which was announced on air on November 29, 2007. She was also featured in the Philippine edition of FHM magazine and ranked her as number 87 in its 2009 poll for 100 Sexiest Women in the World. Wow! (I even have a copy of it)^_^
